Introverts Unite! Separately, in your own homes…
Stay Home Club describe themselves as a lifestyle brand for people who have no life. The brainchild of Montreal-based illustrator Olivia Mew, Stay Home Club radiates cool-kid nonchalance and anti-social neurosis with clothing, accessories and stationery designed for homebodies with street-style.
The Stay Home Club logo featuring a nervous brunette girl surrounded by cats perfectly captures the brand (and my inner psyche). It’s cute and quirky with a twist of irony. The collection spans everything from women’s tees and kid’s clothes to bags, patches, pins, prints and gift wrap. All feature Mew’s offbeat illustrations and wry slogans such as the ‘Emotional Baggage’ oversized canvas tote and the ‘Boring is Best’ loose tee.
I’m normally not a fan of motifs or slogans, but Stay Home Club designs are so clever, understated and practical I have to stop myself hitting ‘Add to Cart’ next to everything on their website.
For my money, the brands signature and standout items are the loose tees and canvas bags. I am the proud owner of two of the loose tees (classic black logo and ‘the worst’) and they are the money! They’re the ideal oversized, boyfriend shirt and are made from such soft cotton jersey they feel worn in all the right places.
The ‘No new friends or any friends’ tote picturing a person in bed with a laptop and a cat is #1 on my wishlist. I’m also in the market for their ‘full of shit’ sleepover bag and ‘I’m headed home’ patch.
Stay Home Club only have 5 stockists in Oz, so best to hit them up on their website. I hope you love their stuff as much as I do and join the Stay Home Club too – ‘a club that never meets, but a club nonetheless’.
